The teacher feedback went okay. It was just okay because although we had new ideas brewing, we still didn’t have a solid problem or conclusion. Some teachers were able to help but at the end we didn’t get new ideas that we could pursue. The only help or new ideas we ended up getting were impossible to solve as seventh graders in this time frame. Although we still don’t have a solution we are getting closer to it and we have shifted to thinking about guide dogs and public transportation. We now know that we must do a lot of work in a small amount of time to find and finalize our solution.

We considered starting a type of wire or other material to run along the train stops and have poles or margins so they would know where the specific trains top was. After we thought more about it we knew it wouldn’t work because people couldn’t go in different directions different directions and we couldn’t specifically put and wire where they got dropped of walked from while still connecting to every train stop without getting in peoples way. After we came up and analyzed another idea it was more practical. Our finalized idea was to put a recorded audio near or in the bus door that is triggered when the bus doors open and close. When set off a pre recorded audio would sound either saying “Bus door opening” or “bus door closing.”Depending on the circumstances . This means that blind people could sense where the noise is coming from and could get of the bus using a part of the brain that locates things with sound, this would help them get on and off the bus safely. Currently we have not found any buses that use this to help people that are blind or visually impaired
We are a group of 7th graders that have come together to make a change in the world. There are so many problems that we have in this world and we wanted to help fix one of them. Using the public transportation system is an easy efficient way to get around. We don’t even think about what it would be like if we had to go through this process blind. My dad uses the public transportation system almost every day. He sees lots of people that need help and cares with getting around and we decided that we wanted to make it easier for some people to use these systems. When you think of someone that is disabled, you think of someone without a limb. We decided to help people that have lost their sight. We are reaching out to metro to help make ways for the blind to use transportation in a faster and more efficient way without as much help. We will update you next week on where we are! |
